Multi-channel shoppers are big spenders…
People who shop online and offline, as opposed to those who only shop offline, spend anywhere from 30-60% more on average.
According to recent Nielsen research*, when purchasing high consideration items such as consumer electronics shoppers prefer to browse online than in a local shop.
Over two-thirds of consumers say that they could get a better price online than in a local shop due to the following factors;
- It is easier to compare prices online (50%)
- Convenience of home delivery (45%),
- Comparing retailers (41%),
- Ability to choose from a broader selection (40%),
- Accessing more product information (40%),
- Reading consumer reviews (37%).
The top reasons given for eventually deciding to not buy online were;
- Wanting to physically evaluate the product (58%)
- Didn’t want to wait for the product to ship (52%)
- Didn’t want to pay for shipping & handling (43%)
